Did you know that you have a superpower?

No, really!

We often underestimate our own ability… we think of our lives as simple, straightforward, and small-scale. But the truth is that each of us has the power to impact other people. And not just in small ways – we can change the course of someone’s life!

We hear the word “influencer” and think of big names with lots of followers on social media. But really, everyone is an influencer. We influence our partners, our children, our friends, our team members, our employees – anyone who holds you with regard, you influence. That is your superpower!

But, you see, there is a catch… you cannot turn it off.

You can influence, yes. But also, you must. It is like a hose with no off switch. Just by living your life, you influence those around you whether you choose to or not. And that begs the question… how are you using your influence?

Maybe you joined recently and you have only gotten a few. (If you have – drop me a comment below! Let me know how you are enjoying the content.)

Or, maybe you have been reading these articles for a while and you are very familiar with what is good and what is not good for your brain and your body.

If that is true, then you have a very powerful tool in your hands to impact others.

This is why I write my weekly articles… to help change the lives of those who will hear what I have to say.

But in your relationships, you have so much more influence than I ever could – and you have the insight, as well.

If your friend mentions their difficulty getting their kids to go to sleep, you can ask about their eating habits before bed. You can share some helpful alternatives. And then, not only are they getting better sleep, they may do better in school, or have the energy to pick up a new hobby that helps form even more healthy habits.

If your coworker seems to have trouble focusing during the day, you can mention the effect that caffeine has on the body and maybe advise them on their sleep schedule. They are just a few adjustments away from better cognition, which can end up improving their professional performance.

You can use your power to bring that change to someone’s life!

You can help someone improve with just your words and your wisdom. But the most powerful tool of influence at your disposal is… you.

You are your own loudest testimonial.

Your life and your choices speak for themselves. The most powerful leader leads by example and backs up their words with actions. When others see the results of your actions, they will want the same for themselves – and then, everyone feels the benefits of healthy living.
