Writing

Writing from inside the room.

I started writing in 2018 because the room was too small.

Every week I met people whose stories deserved more than fifteen minutes and a prescription, and every week I went home carrying questions the system was not asking. The essays began as a place to put those questions. They became something else over the years… a record of what psychiatry looks like from the inside, written for the people it is supposed to serve.

The patient stories you will read here are composites. Real in substance, untraceable in detail, because the trust of the room is not mine to spend.

The essays

Long reads from inside the room

Long reads on diagnosis, medication, trauma and the body underneath it all. Read in whatever order finds you. There is no curriculum here, only a long conversation about two beliefs: the body breaks first and the mind follows, and you are not your diagnosis.

The column

Last Week in Denmark

Twice a month I write for Last Week in Denmark about mental health in this country. The waiting lists, the labels, and the people carrying both.
